Jennifer Garner loves to reference Kanye West’s bizarre Twitter hashtag, #nodisrespecttoBenAffleck. The “Dallas Buyers Club” star joked about it when she appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Tuesday (Oct. 29).
“Hashtag no disrespect to Ben Affleck. Hashtag all disrespect to Jimmy Kimmel. I say that all the time now [to my husband],” Garner says. “I say, ‘You look crazy, hashtag no disrespect to Ben Affleck.’ That’s how I might greet him in the morning.”
Garner looked a little crazy herself when she walked on stage, wearing a beard worthy of “Duck Dynasty” fame. She explained that it was for good luck for the Boston Red Sox, currently playing in the MLB World Series. “That’s really all that’s happening at my house right now. I don’t know if kids are being fed, or if trick or treating is going to happen,” Garner jokes. “But it’s part of the deal. It’s one the deals you make with devil when you’re living with Ben Affleck.”
Also part of the deal is dealing with Affleck’s superstitions when it comes to the Red Sox. “Once you get into the playoffs, it’s like, somebody made an error so I have change where I’m sitting in the house?” Garner says. “You wore this shirt yesterday, or had a hot dog at this time yesterday … It’s a little bit ridiculous. But he’s not kidding. It’s some weird guy thing.”
Garner also talked about her “Dallas Buyers Club” costars Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto’s shocking weight loss for the film. “It was so upsetting. It was worse in person,” Garner says. “The camera adds 10 pounds so in person it was just awful to see. The’re really skinny. Everyone’s saying, oh those boys lost 50 lbs for this movie. But you know how much weight I lost for this movie? 50 lbs. No one’s asking me how I lost that much weight.”
“Dallas Buyers Club” opens in theaters on Friday (Nov. 1).
