If Sen. John Kerry ever wanted to earn some street cred, he did it on Monday (Jan. 24). The 68-year-old Democrat showed up to an event honoring his home state’s Boston Bruins sporting a broken nose and two black eyes that he got…while playing hockey.
Kerry suffered the injuries over the holidays in a pick up game. It seems that Kerry was hit in the face with a hockey stick, this according to the Boston Globe.
Kerry’s spokesperson Whitney Smith tells ABC, “He’s totally fine. Very ironically he busted his nose recently playing ice hockey, so the Bruins can certainly relate.”
In typical Washington fashion, Smith used the opportunity to take a swipe at those on the other side of the aisle.
“He must feel like Mitt Romney after South Carolina,” Smith says.
Kerry has been playing the sport for years, according to his spokesperson. He routinely plays in the charity event, the Congressional Hockey Challenge.
Maybe next time he should wear a mask.
