In the above clip, Peeta shows that his love for Katniss means that he can just be her friend. “I think in this movie, Peeta kind of realizes he wants to support her,” Hutcherson explains. “He loves her; he wants to support her anyway she can accept the support, and if it’s not as more than a friend, then he wants to be a friend. He wants to be anything he can be to her.”
With the public continuing its obsession with Jennifer Lawrence, Hutcherson had nothing but kind things to say about his costar. He says that what you see is what you get with her.
“That’s the most amazing thing about her. Even with all her success and talent and everything, she’s still the same person,” he says. “She’s honest. There’s no filter, which is always exciting and you never know what’s going to come next. You’ve got to be on your toes. It’s always a blast.”
As for the weirdest part of his “Hunger Games” fame, Hutcherson says fans feeling like they know him when they’ve never met still sometimes freaks him out.
“It’s a weird disconnect. When someone recognizes you, they’ve seen interviews like this now, and they know your bio and where you come from, your family, all these things, and you don’t know the first thing about this person. It’s this weird thing where they feel like they know you and they don’t. It’s a little bit awkward sometimes,” Hutcherson says. “People are pretty calm most of the time.”
“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is due in theaters on Nov. 22.
