What better way to hold a mirror to our culture, than a peek at Google’s most searched terms from the past year.
Google Zeitgeist compiles and categorizes the top searches of the year both globally and regionally. When it came to Google-ing in 2010, it comes as no surprise that the United States came down with Bieber Fever.
Justin Bieber was the top searched person of the year in the United States, followed by Lady GaGa, Kim Kardashian, Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus.
The Apple iPad was the fastest rising product search this year, and as for Google Image searching? “Jersey Shore” took the cake on that one.
Obviously not everyone Googles celebrities as feverishly as we do, so there are certainly plenty of global events at hand as well including the World Cup, Vancouver Olympics, earthquake in Haiti, Gulf of Mexico oil spill and ash cloud in Iceland.
What did you find yourself searching in 2010? We love that Antoine Dobson’s “Bed Intruder” song made an appearance in the video above.
