It’s puppy love for Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber who, according to People, adopted a puppy (not pictured above) while visiting a Canadian animal shelter — meaning an animal shelter in Canada, not a stateside shelter that fosters only animals born in Canada.
Selena and Justin paid an unannounced visit to Winnipeg’s D’Arcy’s A.R.C. and spent time nuzzling plenty of pups before Gomez zeroed in on a 10-week-old husky mix.
“They spent a lot of time with the puppies,” the rescue’s chief executive officer, D’Arcy Johnston, tells People. “I was told that [Gomez] was missing the dogs that she has at home.”
Gomez went through the standard adoption paperwork and was able to leave with her new dog, which she named Baylor, the same day. Gomez already has five rescue dogs at home and is an outspoken advocate of animal rescue.
Baylor probably would have had a bad life or a very short life,” Johnston says. “But he got rescued and brought to our shelter and is now going to live a very good life.”
Bieber is also a pet person. In August, he brought a pet snake named Johnson to the MTV Video Music Awards.
