Australians had one shot to see Bieber sing about his “Baby,” but all hopes were dashed when a performance scheduled for Monday (April 26 — yep, they’re a day ahead over there) for morning show Sunrise Channel 7 was forced to cancel.

The reason? Concerns over the safety of the fanatical fans. Reports say the massive crowd, including folks who had camped out since Sunday night, was getting out of control.

]]>following statement on the matter:

“Global phenomenon Justin Bieber’s only Australian public performance caused such an enormous crowd to descend on Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal that police had to cancel it due to safety concerns. “As of 4.30am, Monday 26 April, the police shut the gates to the area and said that due to safety concerns no more fans would be permitted into the area. “Around 5.20am, with the forecourt area at full capacity and fans still arriving, the police ordered Sunrise to cancel the performance.”
Sunrise had originally announced that the Bieb would performs from behind a glass wall for his own safety. But the 16-year-old singer thought that would separate him from his fans too much.
