Kanye West is finally transitioning into full-on family man mode. The rapper who is known for not mincing words or going out of his way to play nice actually seems pretty sweet when he talks about his baby mama Kim Kardashian.
“Family time – it’s what Kim gave me,” the 36-year-old gushes in an interview with BBC Radio. “She gave me everything. She gave me a family. She gave me a support system.”
Unlike some other women West has met in Hollywood, Kardashian wasn’t looking for a support system in return. Love her or hate her, there’s no denying Kardashian is a savvy business woman who has made millions on a self-made brand.
“She was in a powerful enough situation where she could love me without asking me for money, which is really hard for me to find,” West says.
He also talks about why he’s so determined to change paparazzi laws so that celebrities will get paid for having photos taken of them. “I’m going to tell my daughter, by the time she understands what it was, ‘Man, me and your mother were in a completely different situation than you’re in,’ ” he says. “People could take pictures, people could climb over your fence, and you wouldn’t even get paid for it. You see all these checks that you getting at age 6 because people are taking your picture? … I made that happen, Nori. That’s what I’m going to tell her.”
