Zach Braff has taken a page out of the “Veronica Mars” playbook and put his next movie project on Kickstarter. “Wish I Was Here” reached its fundraising goal in three days and Braff set about lining up the cast.
Mandy Patinkin has already been announced as the main character’s father and now Kate Hudson joins the cast as Braff’s on-screen wife. The movie tells the story of a 35-year-old man (Braff) who starts home-schooling his kids when his father stops paying for their private school education.
Anna Kendrick, Josh Gad and Jim Parsons have also signed on.
There are still three days left to donate to the movie’s budget, which currently stands at $2.7 million. Stacey Sher and Michael Shamberg will produce the movie alongside Braff.
