While Kate Middleton smiles for cameras during a tour of Southeast Asia with her husband, Prince William, royal lawyers are working feverishly to prevent further publication of the infamous photos of her sunbathing topless at a private villa in the south of France.
In addition to a civil lawsuit against the French tabloid Closer, which first printed the paparazzi snaps, solicitors for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will file a criminal complaint against the unidentified photographer(s), the AP reports.
The couple’s lawyers, set to appear in a Paris court Monday, Sept. 17, are also seeking an injunction against Mondadori, the media group that publishes both Closer and Chi, another gossip mag that has announced it is publishing a 26-page special issue devoted to the pictures, which the palace has condemned as a “grotesque” invasion of privacy.
So far the royals have not announced whether they plan to pursue legal action against the Irish Daily Star, which ran the images on Saturday.
Here’s hoping the princess is truly as carefree as she seems!
