“Good Morning America” had a familiar morning show face gracing its stage Monday morning (April 2) when Katie Couric, who co-hosted “Today” for 15 years starting in 1991, stepped in for the on-vacation Robin Roberts. She’ll be the “GMA” co-host all week along and to introduce her, the show put forth a rather cute montage of what it was like for Katie to get up so early after six years of not being a morning show host.
After chugging cups of coffee and pouring cereal in her mouth straight from the box (Katie Couric! She’s just like us!), she was ready to rock. As far as the actual show went, Couric and co-host George Stephanopoulos did stories on the Mega Millions winners, Sarah Jones, the Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader accused of having sex with a student at the high school where she taught and Susan Powell’s family claiming police had enough evidence to keep Powell in jail before he killed himself and his two young sons.
Plus, Couric got to live out a dream by dancing with Derek Hough of “Dancing With the Stars.” And the rest of the week, Couric fans can look forward to a sit-down interview with “Desperate Housewives” star Eva Longoria in addition to the regular co-hosting duties.
Katie was definitely having fun on Twitter early Monday morning too. She tweets, “Not used to waking up this early anymore! Where’s the coffee?!” and “I wear sunglasses at night (and early in the am)” along with the picture below – she’s so adorable.
Were you glad to see Couric back on your morning TV screen?
