On Saturday, Williams told CNN that while he apologized to anyone who perceived his remarks as “hateful,” he would not apologize for the comments themselves.
“I meant what I said and I said what I meant,” Williams said, quoting Dr. Seuss.
He added that apologies were “for the Tracy Morgans of the world.” Morgan apologized after making anti-gay remarks on stage during a Nashville stand-up performance.
Among Williams’ comments, made during a performance in Phoenix, Ariz.: “Are you Mexican? Do you know where Mexico is? No, this ain’t Mexico, it used to be Mexico, motherf***er, and now it’s Phoenix, godd***it. USA! USA!”
“I don’t think I need to apologize for being pro-American,” Williams told CNN before adding that he really appreciates his Mexican fan-base.
He just has a funny (not) way of showing it.
