Something you may not know about pop star Katy Perry is that her father, Keith Hudson, is a Christian preacher. The Sun is reporting that he and wife Mary are currently touring churches across the United States and giving sermons where he urges the congregation to “pray for Katy.”
Reportedly, the Hudsons have a video they show during their presentation where they call Katy a “devil child” and say that she needs “healing.”
The Sun says at a service in Sante Fe Springs, Keith was reported as saying, “They ask how can I preach if I produce a girl who sang about kissing another girl?”
“I was at a concert of Katy’s where there were 20,000. I’m watching this generation and they were going at it. It almost looked like church. I stood there and wept and kept on weeping and weeping. They’re loving and worshipping the wrong thing.”
However, in examining YouTube videos of Hudson preaching, it doesn’t sound so much like he’s saying his daughter is a “devil child,” so much as he’s saying this generation wants to be loved and needs Jesus and people should pray for them.
It isn’t exactly the same thing — though we do not have video of the reported Sante Fe Springs sermon.
The video below is of Hudson preaching at a church in Florida, where he says some very similar things to what he was reported as saying in Sante Fe Springs, though there is no “devil child” comment. You can judge for yourself.
