Kellie Pickler spent her holiday doing good for the American troops. The “American Idol” alum and her husband Kyle Jacobs headed to Afghanistan for Christmas for her seventh USO tour as part of the Every Moment Counts campaign.
“There’s no place I’d rather spend Christmas,” she tells the troops, as reported by The Washington Post.
While in Kandahar Airfield, Pickler filed a howitzer and flew in Black Hawks and Chinooks. Her presence reportedly helped bolster the spirits of those on the base, and many quickly took to her charm. Pictures with the country star were taken left and right and posted to social media.
“The USO tours and programs I’ve been part of have definitely been the highlight of my career,” 27-year-old Pickler says in a statement. “So I’m honored to join the USO in helping to raise awareness about the many precious moments that our troops and their families sacrifice due to their commitment and service to our country.”
