We’re not sure what it sounded like in your home when “Friday Night Lights” star Kyle Chandler won his long-deserved Emmy Award for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series, but the Zap2it offices got loud. Really loud. People climbed on furniture.
We weren’t the only ones super excited. Chandler was praised by critics for all five years of his work as Coach Taylor on the enormously underrated series, and it was about darn time he took home some gold for it.
Co-star Michael B. Jordan tweeted, “HOOOOLLLLLYYYY S***!!! KYLE CHANDLER IT’S YOUR TIME!!! #ClearEyesFullHeartsCANTLose BEST ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES.”
Jason Street himself, Scott Porter, went on a bit of a Twitter spree, too. “Kyle for the win!!! I am literally crying with joy for one of the greatest men I have ever had the honor of knowing! #FridayNightLights YES!”
He added, “Texas Forever Indeed. Congratulations to one of the greatest men I have ever had the honor of knowing. You deserve this. Thank for letting me learn from you, Kyle.”
“KYLE CHANDLER WINS BEST LEAD ACTOR, in a DRAMA SERIES!!! #FridayNightLights #Emmys,” adds our fave, Matt Lauria.
The underdog took home the gold in the 11th hour. If that isn’t true to the spirit of “Friday Night Lights,” nothing is. Clear eyes, full hearts.
