“Last Man Standing” returned on Friday, Nov. 2 with a politically-charged episode that saw Mitt Romney supporter Mike Baxter (Tim Allen) go head-to-head with his liberal, pro-Obama daughter Kristin on Election Day. What wasn’t mentioned was the fact that the family looks a whole lot different in Season 2. Alexandra Krosney, who previously played Kristin, has been replaced by Amanda Fuller.
Fuller, who is best known for her work as Alex Karev’s intern-with-complications on “Grey’s Anatomy,” is a few years older than Krosney. The age difference afforded the show the opportunity to retool the family dynamic. Boyd, Kristin’s young son, is suddenly a few years older, and is now played by the super-adorable Flynn Morrison.
Additionally, Flynn’s previously deadbeat dad, who was played by Nick Jonas in the first season, has been aged up (he’s got a 5 o’clock shadow now) and is played by Jordan Masterson. Ryan’s role has been expanded and he’s expected to appear in many more episodes this season, which wouldn’t have been possible due to scheduling if Jonas had continued in the role.
With nearly half of the family being played by different actors, “Last Man Standing” certainly looks different in its second season, as it joins “Malibu Country” on Friday nights. What do you think of the changes? Will you keep watching?
