urx unit loader 'Law & Order: Los Angeles': Ripped from (last year's) headlines

See if you can guess the real-life basis for Wednesday’s “Law & Order: Los Angeles” based on the first bits of narration from the preview clip above:

“A sports icon … a host of mistresses … and a domestic disturbance.” Does the NBC voiceover guy even need to add the smarmy, “Oh yeah — we’re goin’ there”?

“LOLA’s” take on the Tiger Woods scandal is a little bit behind the franchise’s usual ripped-from-the-headlines turnaround time. To be fair, though, it’s a story that wouldn’t fit as well in the old New York setting, because really, how many pro golfers live in Manhattan?

The Woods-ian figure in the episode, “Playa Vista,” is a golfer named Chip Jarrow (played by “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” alum Marc Blucas). And since it’s “Law & Order,” there has to be murder — which in this case involves a female pro (Maggie Contreras) who turns up dead.

What do you think of the preview? Has the story lost its juice, or is it still sordid enough to work for “LOLA”?
