Christina Aguilera may be on the path to redemption after several very public foibles as news that her boyfriend won’t be charged with a DUI from their March 1 arrest, her divorce becomes final, and her new show, NBC’s “The Voice,” premieres on April 26.
“I’m just living my life,” Aguilera tells USA Today. “People go through divorces and ups and downs. I’m having to do it in the spotlight.”
Aguilera hasn’t had the easiest time of it lately. Aside from her divorce and the alcohol-related arrest with her boyfriend, she fumbled on the national anthem at the Super Bowl, and stumbled on-stage at the Grammy awards. After all that, Xtina says she knows when changes have to be made.
“Some people do make mistakes,” she says. “I’m an honest person, and I’m very honest with myself in seeing if there are things that I need to change about my life, or if there are things I need to do stepping forward. That’s in part why I got the divorce in the first place. It’s a new beginning for me. It’s all positivity for me. I’ve been through some hard things, but I’m on the up and up. It feels good.”
That’s music to our ears, because things were getting sloppy for a hot minute.
