When we last saw our favorite “Life Unexpected” ne’er-do-well, Baze (Kristoffer Polaha), he’d just unsuccessfully attempted to thwart his baby mama’s wedding. Let’s just say that when Season 2 begins, Baze has a lot of explaining to do.
“Baze is sort of a new man this year,” Polaha told Zap2it on our exclusive visit to the show’s Vancouver set. “He’s really trying to become a better guy and a better human being. It’s like he gets a new start, being that the girl that he loves is now married to somebody else, he’s going to respect that. He’s going to try to do his own thing.”
As Kerr Smith told us, even Ryan gives Baze another chance. “Ryan is one of the most patient characters in the history of television, I think. The guy just keeps getting it in the face and he’s like alright, whever. He keeps turning the other cheek. Baze and Ryan actually are on good terms.
Of course, Baze wouldn’t be Baze if he wasn’t screwing up in one way or another. “Isn’t that what we love about Baze?” Polaha laughs. “This guy, try as he might… you’ve got to watch!”
Our questions for Polaha were the least interesting part of our sit-down with him, though. As the “Life Unexpected” crew filmed concert scenes for the upcoming “One Tree Hill” crossover, he had music on the mind, and we got to see the debut performance of his Season 2 redemption song. You don’t want to miss this video, LUX fans — and you really don’t want to miss the Sept. 14 season premiere.
We don’t want to give away too much, but we’ll say that in addition to a heroic move landing Baze in the hospital, more than one not-entirely-appropriate relationship begins, and someone we know (and love, in some cases) leaves town.
