devious maids season 2 renewed lifetime Lifetime renews 'Devious Maids' for Season 2It looks like the sudsy saga of Lifetime’s “Devious Maids” will live on past its inaugural season.

The cable net announced on Tuesday (Aug. 13) that it had issued a pickup for a 13-episode Season 2 of the Marc Cherry-created hit. “Devious Maids” premiered to solid but unspectacular ratings, but has managed to steadily improve week-to-week, becoming Lifetime’s fastest-growing drama in the network’s history.

On Aug. 4, the show, centered on a close-knit group of maids (Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramrez, Roselyn Snchez, Edy Ganem and Judy Reyes) and their ultra-wealthy Beverly Hills bosses, netted a series high 2.9 million total eyeballs, up 45 percent from the series’ June 23 premiere. Not only that, “Devious Maids” has made Lifetime cable’s No. 1 network in the Sunday at 10 p.m. time slot among women.

“One of the most daring series on television, ‘Devious Maids’ has quickly become a hit.  We are very proud of the show and are delighted to continue our partnership with Marc Cherry … I am thrilled we are bringing ‘Devious Maids’ back for a second season to lead our scripted slate in 2014,” Rob Sharenow, executive vice president and general manager of Lifetime, said in a statement.
