UPDATE 7 p.m. ET: The NYPD has dropped the assault charges against Christian LaBella, according to multiple reports. No word as to why.
Lindsay Lohan told police early Sunday (Sept. 30) that a man assaulted her in her hotel room, after she confronted him about taking pictures of her.
New York City police arrested 25-year-old Christian LaBella in connection with the incident, which allegedly took place in the wee hours of Sunday morning at the W Hotel in Union Square, where Lohan is staying.
Per TMZ, Lohan and a group of friends were at a nightclub when LaBella joined them. He then tagged along when Lohan and others returned to her hotel room.
Lohan left the room and returned a short time later. She told police that when she came back, LaBella attacked her again, choking her and throwing her to the ground.
LaBella was arrested on two counts of misdemeanor assault and two counts of harassment.
LaBella, according to the New York Daily News, is a California resident who works for the office of Republican Congressman John Shimkus of Illinois. He’s also the nephew of comedian Heather McDonald, a regular on “Chelsea Lately.”
A spokesperson for Shimkus confirmed LaBella has worked for the congressman, adding, “Obviously, the congressman does not condone his actions.”
LaBella’s Facebook page also features photos of him posing with Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan and with Kim Kardashian and her mom, Kris Jenner.
