“Lindsay” wrapped up its season on OWN Sunday (April 20) with a two-hour finale that saw star Lindsay Lohan make a dramatic reveal of having miscarried while filming the series.
In part I of the finale, Lilo films a “Billy on the Street” segment and then travels to Miami, which is where she was linked to an altercation involving Paris Hilton’s younger brother Barron. On the show, Lindsay refuses to explain anything to the camera and just says she was not involved in the fight.
Upon returning to New York, Lindsay works at a preschool as part of her community service and it’s pretty adorable. She’s really good with the kids, actually. Then later, she introduces Miley Cyrus at the 2013 Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden, which was Lohan’s biggest public appearance since she left rehab.
During the appearance, she voice-overs about her previous downward spiral, “When I didn’t have that, it’s like I’m not feeding what I was meant to be doing, what God gave me as a child. That can make you go crazy and that’s essentially what it did to me. I got really bored and I got really restless and in that, you act out. And that’s just, you know, that’s being human.”
A few days later, she meets with a producer about a new movie and feels optimistic about getting her movie career back on track.
In part II, Lohan does a sexy photoshoot in the Flatiron District of Manhattan and then has a meeting with a literary agent to discuss a book deal for a tell-all based on her life and the journals she’s kept for years. She and her brother Michael also launch a karaoke app.
Later, Lilo does some globe-trotting, as she flies to Shanghai to receive a fashion award and then heads to the 2014 Sundance Film Festival to announce her new film, “Inconceivable.”
She says of the project that she’s setting short-term goals — to start “Inconceivable” and then to finish it, then to hopefully start another movie right afterward.
There’s also some drama with her personal assistant Matt Harrell, who leaves New York to go back to Los Angeles amid reports that she could not longer afford to pay him. Harrell can’t discuss the issues, however, because of a confidentiality agreement he has signed. He returns six weeks later and says it wasn’t a problem with money, but there aren’t any details given as to why he left for six weeks.
Near the end, there’s a very meta segment where at this point in the filming process, the docu-series has started airing on OWN, so the production crew is getting reactions from random viewers out on the street, ranging from people who like what they see to people who think she’s kind of pathetic to people who mainly watch the show to see what she’s wearing.
The penultimate bump in the road is Lohan’s “sexual inventory” list from her time at Betty Ford that got leaked. She’s fairly certain she knows who took the photo of the list and sold it to the tabloids and Lindsay is upset about how disrespectful it was, not only to her, but to the people on the list.
“The fact that that happened was not only humiliating, but also just mean. It’s mean-spirited for someone to do that. That is a desperate human being and I hope they find some peace. Anyone who is willing to do that to someone else is f***ed up in the head,” says Lohan.
Then the final dramatic reveal is that the two weeks when Lohan couldn’t film the docu-series is because she had a miscarriage. “It’s a very long story, but that’s why on the show when it says she doesn’t want to come down, I couldn’t move, I was sick. Mentally, that messes with you,” says Lohan. “Watching this series, I just know how I felt at that moment and I can relate to that girl, which sounds kind of crazy, but I’m like, ‘Oh my god, this is really sad. Who’s helping her?'”
