Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are taking “Same Love,” their gay rights anthem, to the MTV Video Music Awards. That announcement means the pair, who are nominated for six VMAs are making history. They’re the first artists to perform at the MTV Movie Awards, VMAs and mtvU Woodies in one calendar year.
Also announced as a performer at the 2013 VMAs is Bruno Mars, who is up for four Moon Men. He’ll be performing his new single.
This year’s Video Music Awards includes an impressive array of pop music talent. Announced performers include Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry. The fun kicks off earlier than the actual awards show this year, as Austin Mahone and Ariana Grande will be performing during the pre-show.
The VMAs will air on Aug. 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. They’re being held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
