Manny Pacquiao, a professional boxer and congressman in the Philippines, has come out strongly against President Obama‘s recent public stance that same-sex couples should enjoy the right to be legally married.
Pacquiao, who Forbes recently named as the No. 4 most influential athlete in the world, gave an interview with the National Conservative Examiner at his residence in Los Angeles Friday night (May 11) where he invoked the Bible to say that President Obama’s stance is not right.
“God’s words first … obey God’s law first before considering the laws of man,” says Pacquiao. “God only expects man and woman to be together and to be legally married, only if they so are in love with each other. It should not be of the same sex so as to adulterate the altar of matrimony, like in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah of Old.”
Pacquiao adds that America should be the model of morality for all other countries in the world to emulate and that it has the responsibility to uphold the Bible’s scripture to the highest order of God’s command.
