Mark Wahlberg has a lot of things on his resume. He’s twice been nominated for a Oscar. He’s had a song that topped the charts. He been a Calvin Klein model. He’s produced a number of successful TV series. But there’s one thing Wahlberg doesn’t have, a high school diploma. And he wants one.
The actor tells People, “I want [my children] to get a great education and do those things I never did. I will have that GED before my kids are old enough to know.”
The 40-year-old Wahlberg dropped out of school as a 13-year-old. After that, he experienced a number of troubled years. As a 16-year-old, he beat a Vietnamese man with stick, blinding the man in one eye. For that Wahlberg was convicted of assault. Wahlberg also struggled with cocaine addiction.
But now with four children, Wahlberg appears to be ready to set an example as he looks toward getting his degree.
“I actually looked at the test online (recently),” he says.
