One of our favorite singer-songwriters, Matt Nathanson, performed his latest single on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Wednesday night. The song, “Faster,” is the first track off of Nathanson’s new album “Modern Love,” which dropped on Tuesday.
In a “living liner notes” interview for Amazon, Nathanson said that when they wrote “Faster,” the goal was to out-do their title track, “Modern Love,” and to create “something that’s more immediate and more in-your-face.”
“The joke is that people think that when you write like that that you’re being disingenuous,” he says, “but when we write it’s a very genuine process. The creativity comes from a very real place. I wanted Faster to be the first song. We had this idea of what Faster should be, and then we sort of went at the idea from all angles.”
