Her Margaret Thatcher biopic, “The Iron Lady,” had an early screening in the U.K. recently, and according to the Daily Mail (via Movieline), the portrayal of the former prime minister had some audience members incensed.
“I didn’t come here to see a film about granny going mad,” said one. Ouch.
Apparently detractors biggest issues is the way in which the older Thatcher is portrayed, showing her later years’ plagued with hallucinations and nightmares about the 1984 miners’ strike, the Falklands War… and her deceased husband, Sir Denis, yelling at her in a pink turban.
Not exactly flattering, but we’ll reserve judgment for the Dec. 16 release date.
