Is “Dexter” really ending after Season 8?
“That’s the likely scenario,” Showtime entertainment president David Nevins told reporters at the TCA press tour. “I’m not making any announcements today, but plans can always change. I think everything has gotten rewired this year in a very interesting way, given that Deb [Jennifer Carpenter] has to deal with who her brother is. We’ll see where that carries us.”
But is Michael C. Hall, the serial killer drama’s Emmy-winning star, willing to be carried that far?
“It’s difficult in the midst of shooting this seventh season — with some sort of at least vague sense that the final episode of the eighth will be the last — to imagine it going beyond that,” Hall said.
“But you know, we finished the first season and I thought we should probably just stop — what are we going to do now?
“I would never say never, but I think the sense is that we’re moving towards a definitive end.”
“Dexter’s” seventh season premieres Sunday, Sept. 30 on Showtime.
