It’s been nine months since Regis Philbin stepped down from “Live” and the search for the right replacement has been extensive, with Ripa welcoming dozens of guest hosts and even hosting solo Monday (Sept. 3) for the first time ever.
Michael Gelman, “Live’s” executive producer, says, “As a guest co-host, Michael’s chemistry with Kelly was off the charts, and continued to grow each time he visited the show. The interaction between the co-hosts always has been what makes this show different from any other on television. Kelly and Michael’s ability to play off of one another and just plain have a good time together creates great TV for the audience.”
Strahan is a bit of a hometown boy in New York City. He grew up primarily in Germany, as his father was stationed there for the U.S. Army, then attended Texas Southern University. But Strahan started his NFL career with the New York Giants and never left, playing 15 seasons as a Giants defensive end, where he was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and a Super Bowl champ in the 2007 season.
What do you think of the choice? Will “Live with Kelly and Michael” be a hit?
