It’s almost time for the Angels to reunite! Minka Kelly celebrates her 31st birthday on Friday as she prepares for ABC’s “Charlie’s Angels” to begin filming its first season in Miami. Kelly, who is by far the best thing about the “Angels” pilot, has quite the TV resume — having worked on critical favorites “Friday Night Lights” and “Parenthood.” She’s taking off in a new direction in the show that ABC President Paul Lee refers to as “pure candy.”
“They stayed true to a lot of the main things,” Kelly recently told PopcornBiz. “You know there’s Bosley, there’s Charlie – Charlie will still remain in ‘the box’ and we’ll talk to him and such. And it’s different just because we are all three different Angels – we’re not recreating the old ones. So Charlie has found three new Angels to get off the streets and give us a new chance at life.”
Along with co-stars Rachael Taylor and Annie Ilonzeh, Kelly went through rigorous training before stepping into her character, Eve, who she describes as a tough tomboy and unlike previous characters we’ve seen her play. “We did lots of martial arts training, some car driving training, some
gun weapon training. Annie and I both loved it. Rachael, on the other
hand – she had to get into it,” Kelly says.
