The Miss Teen USA pageant crowned its 2012 winner Saturday night (July 28) in the Bahamas — 17-year-old Logan West of Southington, Connecticut won the crown.
The Top 16 were named early on and then competed in the swimsuit and evening gown competitions. Those girls were Alabama, Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Utah, West Virginia and Wyoming.
Following the first two competitions, the judges named their Top 5, which were Miss Connecticut Logan West, Miss Michigan Courtney Pizzimenti, Miss Ohio Kendall Fein, Miss Oklahoma Jessica Morgan and Miss West Virginia Elizabeth Sabatino.
The final question portion featured questions on a range of topics, from Penn State’s recent NCAA sanctions to plastic surgery to the gunman in Colorado. The final order was fourth runner-up Miss Ohio, third runner-up Miss Oklahoma, second runner-up Michigan and first runner-up Miss West Virginia, leaving Miss Connecticut Logan West as the 2012 Miss Teen USA.
Before the final question portion, each Top 5 girl was asked a personal question. West named her greatest accomplishment as starting a program to combat bullying when she was 14 years old. West is the first winner from Connecticut in the Miss Teen USA pageant.
