Missy Franklin nabbed yet another gold medal Saturday (Aug. 4), along with teammates Rebecca Soni (breaststroke), Dana Vollmer (fly) and Allison Schmitt (free), as the United States broke the world record in the women’s 4×100 medley relay at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Franklin, swimming the backstroke, gave her team the lead in the first leg with the U.S. finishing the relay in 3 minutes, 52.05 seconds. The previous record was set by China in 2009 with a time of 3:52.19.
The medal is the fifth for both Franklin and Schmitt from the 2012 Games. Franklin, 17, also set a world record Friday in the 200 backstroke.
