Lauren Scruggs, the model and blogger who lost her eye and left hand after walking into an airplane propeller, has reached an insurance settlement stemming from her Dec. 2011 accident.
NBC News is saying that Scruggs’ attorney has agreed to terms with Aggressive Insurance Services, the insurer of the plane as well as the pilot. While terms of the settlement haven’t been announced, word had surfaced that Scruggs recently rejected a $200,000 deal.
It was Dec. 3, 2011 that Scruggs, 23, exited a small plane in the late night hours and walked into a spinning propeller. Her hand was immediately severed and her left eye was ultimately lost despite surgeons’ best efforts.
The National Transportation Safety Board has since found that the pilot was not to blame in the accident, although they did say that he could have turned off the plane’s engines sooner.
