Emma Watson won the Trailblazer Award Sunday (April 14) at the MTV Movie Awards, and the “Harry Potter” and “Perks of Being a Wallflower” star delivered a speech more than worthy of the honor.
“I look back at all the work I’ve done over the last 14 years” — Watson, who turns 23 Monday, started acting on stage at age 9 — “and many things come to mind — most importantly, how bad my hair was in the first ‘Harry Potter’ film,” she jokes.
“The cool thing is you’ve supported me in all my awkwardness and allowed me to grow into the kind of actress and kind of person I hope to be,” Watson continues. “So thank you for that very much. Becoming yourself is really hard and confusing, and it’s a process. … I was the girl in the front of the class who was the first person to put her hand up. It’s often not cool to be the person who puts herself out there … but I found that ultimately, if you truly pour your heart into what you believe in, amazing things can and will happen.”
She may be only 23, but that’s the kind of attitude a trailblazer should have. What did you think of her acceptance speech?
