Myspace is back, and it’s showing off a renewed focus on music. Since actions speak louder than words, the social media website has made its entire landing page a big ad for Justin Timberlake‘s new single “Suit & Tie.”
From there, users can either login or create an account, but this clearly shows a redoubled effort on Myspace’s part to be the go-to social networking site for musicians. Timberlake seems to be backing the idea, judging the by the fact “Suit & Tie” is streaming for free on the site. It remains to be seen if his involvement in the relaunch will give the website the boost it needs.
At least Myspace is done trying to compete with Facebook and Twitter. Users can login either with a Myspace account or an account for either of the other two social media websites. The new Myspace is supposed to be modern and straightforward, and makes it easy for users to repost music they like.
The music slant is something that neither Facebook nor Twitter take advantage of, so Myspace seems like it’s capitalizing on the right angle. Myspace now has website sections that feature new artists, shared playlists, trending items and even a streaming radio that make the site’s new focus very clear.
