Ever since Pope Benedict XVI announced his resignation, the Catholic world and the Twitterverse have been abuzz with energy surrounding the big question: Who will be the next pope? And it seems there is finally an answer.
On Day 2 of the papal conclave, wherein 115 senior cardinals descend upon Vatican City to decide on the Pope’s successor, white smoke poured out of the chimney at the Sistine Chapel. On Day 1, black smoke was seen, which meant no decision was made.
Reuters reports the bells of St. Peter’s Basilica rang out at the same time the smoke appeared. An announcement will come later Wednesday (March 13) as the Roman Catholic church officially names their new pope. Hallelujah!
