If you’re wondering what Americans are talking about, it comes down to three simple letters N – F – L. With NFL lockout
over, the fun of free agency signing begins. And people can’t get
enough of it. Plus, it’s about time to start preparing for your fantasy
Here’s the latest from the NFL truth and gossip mill:
Carolina Panthers have resigned star running back DeAngelo Williams
to a five years paying up to $43 million, with $21 million guaranteed.
Williams ran for only 361 yards last season before getting hurt,
however in the two seasons before that he amassed more than 2,600 yards
rushing. And after going 2-14 last season, the Panthers need all the
help they can get.
Just a year after being traded to the Washington Redskins for a couple of draft picks, quarterback Donovan McNabb might be on the move again. The Brett Favre-less Minnesota Vikings are in the market for someone to run the team and McNabb is now rumored to be taking his talents to Minneapolis.
Former Heisman Trophy winner and first-round draft choice Matt Leinart
has decided to ride the pine in Houston. This comes just hours after it
seemed certain that he would team up with his old USC coach Pete Carroll in Seattle. But after Tavaris Jackson signed with the Seahawks, Leinart decided he’d rather play back-up QB in Houston. Leinart didn’t attempt a pass in the 2010 season.
Matt Hasselbeck, brother-in-law to “The View’s” conservative conscience Elisabeth Hasselbeck and former All Pro has been let go from the Seattle Seahawks
just six months after coach Pete Carroll said that signing the QB was
the team’s “top priority.” The 35-year old threw for more than 3,000
yards last season.
Free agent wide receiver Sidney Rice might just end up with the St. Louis Rams. This would be a welcome sign for QB Sam Bradford
who has all the tools except a wide receiving corps who can catch. Rice
was injured most of last year, but in 2009 caught 83 balls for more
than 1,300 yards and eight touchdowns.
