“Nikita” is always chock full of gun battles and butt kicking, but the strength of the show is often in its relationships. In “Shadow Walker,” we get a really good look at Birkhoff (Aaron Stanford), and whether or not he really considers himself a part of the group.
When Nikita (Maggie Q) insists that Birkhoff use his $20 million to take down Percy (Xander Berkeley), he reluctantly agrees. The only catch? He wants to be a part of it. When they realize they’re being scammed, Birkhoff can’t bring himself to kill again, and Nikita ends up shot.
You can see how much this hurts him, and when Nikita bails him out of jail anyway, it does something to him. He not only allows his $20 million to be blown up (in spectacular fashion), he kills a man to save Nikita’s life.
As amazing as the gun battles were this week, the scene that sticks out is back at the house, where Nikita and Birkhoff finally talk about how much they care about each other. The other moment that stuck out was the Micheal (Shane West) and Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) heart to heart during the stake out. The episode was short on Mikita moments, but when Michael convinces Alex that what he and Nikita have is “definitely worth it,” you could almost hear thousands of sighs of happiness.
Here’s hoping the show gets renewed. Make sure you watch the last couple of episodes live. What did you think of this week’s show? Let us know below. Our pick for funniest moment of the episode? Birkhoff referring to the constant switch in Division power as Whac-A-Mole.
