MSNBC fixture Keith Olbermann, host of “Countdown With Keith Olbermann,” has been put on indefinite suspension, without pay.
In a release first obtained by The Huffington Post, MSNBC president Phil Griffin says the decision came after learning Olbermann donated to three democratic candidates in the 2010 election.
“I became aware of Keith’s political contributions late last night,” says Griffin. “Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him
indefinitely without pay.”
Are you cruising to end up on Olbermann’s “Worst Person in the World” list, Griffin?
The host, for his part, defends the donations in a statement of his own: “I did not privately or publicly encourage anyone else to donate to these campaigns nor to any others in this election or any previous ones, nor have I previously donated to any political campaign at any level.”
Griffin and Olbermann have a history of not getting along, frequently exchanging jabs about who’s really in charge of the series via plenty of interviews.
This round goes to Griffin.
