“The Newsroom’s” Olivia Munn has had “Star Wars” fans hot and bothered since appearing as Slave Leia for a sketch on G4’s “Attack of the Show,” which she co-hosted from 2006 to 2010. Now she has the Twitterverse buzzing after expressing more than a casual interest in working on “Star Wars: Episode VII.”
“I’d do anything on Star Wars, even craft service,” Olivia writes during a tweet-based interview with Vanity Fair. So when Zap2it chatted with Munn at Paleyfest 2013, we just had to know — amidst all the buzz, has Olivia heard from the next “Star Wars” director, J.J. Abrams?
“Oh, no,” Munn says. “I don’t think that’s even in my realm of possibility, in my head.” So, will she reach out to J.J. then? “No, no, no, no, no,” says Olivia. “That’s a whole different level. I think it’s best to just kind of know your place, and know maybe one day, if I was in a place to be able to just call up J.J. Abrams … but, no, I’m not there.”
With regard to her role as hot economics nerd Sloan on “The Newsroom,” Munn says the Season 1 episode where she breaks into fluent Japanese may be the last time we see any of her secret skills. “I don’t have very many hidden talents,” Olivia explains. “I’ve got Japanese and beat boxing, and maybe that’s it.”
Well, one can always hope Aaron Sorkin makes room for a 90s rap flashback scene in “The Newsroom” Season 2. In the meantime, for a glimpse into Olivia as a “Star Wars” character, check out her Slave Leia video below.
