Prior to the start of the 2014 Winter Olympics, ice dancer Charlie White promised “Today” host Savannah Guthrie that if he and partner Meryl Davis won the gold medal, he would return to the morning program and bust out his hidden talent — violin.
Tuesday (Feb. 18) it was time to pay up. After not only winning gold but setting a new world record in ice dance, White appears on “Today” and regales the hosts with a snippet of Vivaldi’s Concerto No. 6 (A minor).
White says he thinks he was more nervous for that performance than the ice dancing because he hasn’t played the violin in three years. Must be like riding a bike for him because that sounded pretty darn good.
The hosts also asked White and Davis if they’re thinking ahead to 2018 in Pyeongchang, but Davis says no. “We haven’t even processed yesterday.”
