We’re about to see another side of Belle on “Once Upon a Time,” when the fairytale show returns after a short hiatus this spring.
In the episode titled “Lacey,” we meet Belle’s Storybrooke counterpart, and while details are sketchy as to how exactly this Lacey person comes about, creator Edward Kitsis teased at Paleyfest, “She’s the opposite of Belle. Things are going to get a lot more interesting for Mr. Gold.”
The episode description reads as follows:
Mr. Gold enlists the aid of David to help him try to jog Belle’s now cursed memories and get her to love him again; and when it is revealed that the magic beans Anton (Jorge Garcia, “Lost”) and the dwarves have been harvesting have begun to grow and could possibly transport everybody home, Emma is torn over whether she would want to live in fairytale land or stay in our world. Meanwhile, in the fairytale land that was, Rumplestiltskin forces Belle to accompany him on a hunt to kill a thief, whom she had freed in the name of mercy.
Below, you can also see that the family’s all there to celebrate Henry’s birthday — minus Regina, of course. But it’s nice to see Grandpa Gold on hand for the festivities.
Finally, there is also a guest-star named Wil Traval (pictured above with de Ravin), who is billed as “sheriff/Keith.”
Intriguing. Just who is this “sheriff”? We thought Emma was still sheriff. And is Keith the thief Belle and Rumpel went to kill? We can’t wait to find out.
UPDATED: It just goes to show you that everyone loses their marbles sometimes — of course the sheriff is the Sheriff of Nottingham and the thief in question is Robin Hood! Duh. We feel pretty silly, thanks alert commenters!
“Once Upon a Time” returns Sunday, April 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
