The 2013 fall TV season is still a few months away, but already additional episode orders have begun, starting with ABC’s “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland.”
EW reports that the spin-off series, originally announced as a limited series, will include more than the 13 episodes initially ordered. The series is being conceived to tell “a complete story, with a beginning, middle and end” in its run, co-creator Adam Horowitz says.
The full episode order (a count that’s still being determined, but will be between 13 and 22) is growing because the writers have just now agreed upon how many hours they’ll need to tell their fully-conceived tale. “This upfront order will be it for the season,” Horowitz adds.
The freshman run of “Once” will focus on the epic romance of Alice (Sophie Lowe) and a genie named Cyrus (Peter Gadiot), but, should the show prove to be a hit, it could return in 2014 with a new, self-contained “Wonderland” adventure.
“Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” will air Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC starting this fall.
