Jamie Dornan is one hot commodity these days.
The “50 Shades of Grey” star is more affectionately known to “Once Upon a Time” fans as the hunky-but-gone-too-soon Huntsman/Sheriff
Graham Skinnyjeans, and according to executive producers Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis, the fans aren’t the only ones who miss Dornan on the ABC drama. They revealed to a group of reporters on Tuesday (Feb. 18) that they even wanted to bring Dornan back in Season 3.
Unfortunately, due to Dornan’s “50 Shades” shooting schedule and his role on the BBC Two series “The Fall,” that didn’t pan out. “Last year, when he did [Season 2 flashback episode] ‘Welcome to Storybrooke’ for us, it was fantastic to have him come back,” Kitsis says. “He’s a friend of ours, he’s a friend of the show and unfortunately, this year, he goes right from [’50 Shades’] to ‘The Fall.'”
Fans fondly remember Dornan’s character from Season 1 of “OUAT,” before he was brutally murdered (too soon!) by the Evil Queen. So how could Dornan have returned to the series if his character was dead? Would it be more flashbacks like his cameo in Season 2?
“Ask us that after the finale,” Kitsis says. “And then we will tell you exactly what we wanted to do and then you will be so bummed that we didn’t get to do it, and then you will have the same look on your face that I do right now, which is sadness.”
Of course, Kitsis and Horowitz are glad that the reason Dornan can’t return is his busy schedule due to his recent rise in popularity. “To be honest, we’d like to take credit for it, actually,” Kitsis says with a laugh. “We are his biggest fans.”
Horowitz continues, “We’re very, very happy for him. Obviously, we’d love to have him if he ever wanted to come back, but he is quite busy right now, and rightfully so. He’s very talented … We miss him dearly.”
You’re not the only ones.
“Once Upon a Time” returns with all-new episodes on Sunday, March 9 on ABC.
