Two members of One Direction, the worldwide sensation boy band founded on Simon Cowell’s U.K. iteration of “The X Factor,” are making headlines this week because of the above video, courtesy of The Daily Mail, that seemingly shows Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson smoking marijuana.
What looks like a joint (it could be a cigarette, but Tomlinson calls it “a joint” in the video) is passed around between the two, with Tomlinson at one point saying, “One very, very important factor of Zayn’s warm-up, of course, is Mary J herself.”
The footage is from the band’s stop in Peru back in April. The other three One Direction members — Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne — are not in the video. The band has not commented officially, but a spokesman for 1D tells Sky News, “The matter is now in the hands of our lawyers.”
Funny enough, the fans online don’t seem to be in much of an uproar. In fact, Wednesday (May 28), the Twitter trend has become changing the focus from the alleged pot-smoking to Niall Horan recently raising $300,000 for charity with his celebrity soccer match.
And some fans are more offended that “Zouis,” as they call them, aren’t wearing their seat belts.
