The pair of actresses was among the 45,000 people who took to the streets of New York City to run the ING NYC Marathon. This was the first time either of them had a run marathon, and they ended up raising a whole lot of money for great causes while doing it.
Aduba finished the race in 5:17:57, and thus far hasn’t taken to Twitter to discuss her run now that she’s finished. “Orange Is The New Black’s” Crazy Eyes was running to raise money for cancer patients and ended up bringing in $3,335 for the organization Team Continuum. Her “OITNB” costar Laura Gomez (aka Blanca Flores) tweeted to her, “A big shoutout to the lovely @UzoAduba who’s running the NY Marathon today for the great cause of supporting Cancer patients. You rock Uzo!”
Anderson, on the other hand, finished in 5:41:03. She ran alongside her brother Gerry Anderson, who she thanked in the morning for running alongside her. Anderson helped raise nearly $76,000 for the J/P Haitian Relief Organization and celebrated her finish with a picture of her medal and a photo of her lying in bed with ice bags on her legs to recover. “Ouch!” she writes.
But Aduba and Anderson weren’t the only two celebrities who took to the streets to test their running endurance. “Girls” guest star Patrick Wilson ran his first marathon this year after training for the 2012 ING NYC Marathon, which was later canceled due to Hurricane Sandy. The 40-year-old actor ended up finishing his first-ever marathon in an impressive 3:32:15. His wife Dagmara Dominczyk live tweeted his race, posting pictures of his run and the look on his race as he crossed the finish line.
Also being a supportive wife was Giuliana Rancic, whose husband Bill Rancic started from last place in order to raise money for her breast cancer charity Fab-U-Wish. Though the amount of money he made hasn’t been revealed, he at least had a very proud wife waiting at the finish line. Rancic finished in 4:57:23.
Big congrats go out to all the marathon finishers!
