Hollywood offers many traditions. One of the most famed is that the Golden Raspberry Awards, honoring Hollywood’s worst, happens the day before the Oscars. Well, this tradition is taking a hiatus.
The Razzies announced that they’re switching up the schedule. The nominees for categories like “Worst Film,” “Worst Actor” and “Worst Actress” will be announced on Feb. 25. The awards will be handed out on April 1, assuming any of the winners come to collect their trophies.
In a press release, the organization states, “When they got a look at the 2012 calendar, John Wilson and Mo Murphy, co-owners of the Razzies, saw a unique opportunity to do something they’ve wanted to do since their awards were created in 1980: Emphasize the Razzies’ comedic intent by unveiling the ‘winners’ of Tinsel Town’s Tackiest Trophy on April Fools’ Day.”
The press release adds that potential nominees for “Worst Film” include “Bucky Larson” and “Just Go With It.” It adds that Adam Sandler could be up for “Worst Actress” for playing “Jill” in “Jack & Jill.” He might just be joined by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for her role in “Transformers: Dark of the Moon.”
