Guillermo del Toro‘s upcoming giant monster-versus-giant robot movie “Pacific Rim” is shaping up to be one of the must-see films of the summer. Starring Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman and Idris Elba, the flick is loaded with everything fans have come to love about del Toro’s work over the years: fantastic visual effects, an imaginative original story and great stars.
Due in theaters on July 12, Warner Bros. has been promoting the upcoming action film like there’s no tomorrow. The studio has released a whole slew of pictures (in addition to some awesome trailers), and they’re definitely pretty impressive. Check them all out in our photo gallery here.
During a recent interview with Zap2it, Day opened up about taking his role in “Pacific Rim,” which is very different from his part in “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”
“That was an awesome role to get,” says Day. “Guillermo del Toro is a big ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ fan, and asked me if I would be a part of his crazy, epic monster movie, and play a semi-serious character. And I’m not dumb; I said ‘Yeah.'”
