When NBC revealed their big scheduling shake-up on Friday (Oct. 18), taking “Welcome to the Family” and “Ironside” off the air effectively immediately, the big news was the Season 5 return of “Community.” Something that went largely ignored? The lengthy hiatus “Parks and Recreation” seems to have been placed on.
For the remainder of 2013, only four more visits to Pawnee will hit the air, two on Nov. 14 and two on Nov. 21. The rest of the show’s normal Thursday timeslots will be commandeered by episodes of “The Voice,” some football games, a “SNL” Halloween special, the resurrection of “The Sing-Off” and the upcoming live broadcast of “The Sound of Music” with Carrie Underwood. Leslie Knope and Co. are currently slatted to return to Thursdays on Jan. 9, at their new time, 8:30.
While a lack of Pawnee leading up to the holiday season is certainly a bummer, at least fans of “Parks” have one more thing to look forward to in 2014.
Are you disappointed by the newly-imposed “Parks” hiatus?
