One of NBC’s Forgotten Shows of 2010-11 will get some in-season airtime after all: The network says “The Paul Reiser Show” will premiere on Thursday, April 14.
It’s taking the place of “Perfect Couples,” which has had a rough go in the ratings since its January launch (or, really, before its January launch: A preview episode that aired after “The Sing-Off” in December also fizzled).
“The Paul Reiser Show” is a sort of mild-mannered “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” with the former “Mad About You” star playing a version of himself as a husband and father. It also stars Amy Landecker (“A Serious Man”) as his wife and Ben Shenkman (“Angels in America”), Duane Martin (“All of Us”), Andrew Daly (“Eastbound & Down”) and Omid Djalili (“Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”) as his buddies/fathers of his kids’ classmates.
Reiser and Jonathan Shapiro (“Life,” “Boston Legal”) co-wrote all six episodes set to air on NBC.
