Looks like TBS is enjoying working with Bill Lawrence on “Cougar Town,” because they’ve greenlit another pilot from him. “Ground Floor” is set in a corporate office, focusing on a 29-year-old “successful alpha male” whose life changes when he begins to interact with the lower-level employees, a close-knit group of happy friends.
Skylar Astin, who stole everyone’s heart as the male lead in 2012 a capella comedy “Pitch Perfect,” is in negotiations to star as the lead, reports Deadline. His character, Brody, is a Harvard grad and on the fast track to the top when he meets Jennifer (Briga Heelan) who supervises the janitorial and maintenance staff. Their relationship is described as “a Romeo/Juliet pairing that could rattle their class divisions to the foundations.”
The comedy will also reunite Lawrence with John C. McGinley, who he worked with on “Scrubs” for many years.
